Buenos Aires Court Orders Arrest for Assault of Ex-Partner

Buenos Aires, March 4 (NA) -- The Buenos Aires justice system has ordered pretrial detention for a 51-year-old homeless man accused of assaulting his ex-partner. The incident occurred in the Flores neighborhood, and the perpetrator has two prior convictions for similar crimes against the same victim. Judge Laura De Marinis issued the detention order following an argument at Plaza Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. A database check revealed the assailant's two previous convictions for the same crime within a year. During the hearing, prosecutor Foster requested the pretrial detention, citing the man's criminal history and the serious nature of gender-based violence. The judge granted the request. Additionally, the man is accused of violating a no-contact order from a previous sentence. According to Noticias Argentinas, passersby and site security guards witnessed the incident and alerted the police. Upon arrival, officers found the woman on the ground, injured, and called the emergency medical service SAME. SAME personnel arrived minutes later. Police contacted the West Flagrant Unit (UFLO), which ordered the arrest of the assailant, witness statements, and reports from SAME and Legal Medicine to be added to the case file.
